【摘要】:Thistestmethodisdesignedsolelyfordeterminingcomparativelaboratoryindicesofperformance.Theresultsmaybeusedforrankingalloysinorderofincreasingresistancetopittingandcrevicecorrosionunderthespecificconditionsofthismethod.Itshouldbenotedthatthemethodisintentionallydesignedtoreachconditionsthataresufficientlyseveretocausebreakdownofatleastonealloy(Type316Lstainlesssteel)currentlyconsideredacceptableforsurgicalimplantuse,andthatthosealloyswhichsufferpittingorcrevicecorrosionduringthemoresevereportionsofthetestdonotnecessarilysufferlocalizedcorrosionwhenplacedwithinthehumanbodyasasurgicalimplant.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofresistancetoeitherpittingorcrevicecorrosionofmetalsandalloysfromwhichsurgicalimplantswillbeproduced.Itisamodifiedversionofanestablishedtestandisusedasascreeningtesttoranksurgicalimplantalloysinorderoftheirresistancetolocalizedcorrosion.1.2Thistestmethodappliesonlytopassivemetalsandalloys.Nonpassivealloys(otherthannoblealloys)aresusceptibletogeneralcorrosionandarenotnormallysuitableforimplantuse.1.3Thistestmethodisintendedforuseasalaboratoryscreeningtestformetalsandalloyswhichundergopittingorcrevicecorrosion,orboth.1.4ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
