【摘要】:Thismethodisfordeterminingtheacidnumberofpetroleumproducts,petroleumdistillates,andsimilarmaterialsbypotentiometrictitration.Inorganicacids,organicacids,mercaptansandthiophenolsrespondtothisanalysis,buttheirrespectivesaltsdonot.Fornaphthenicacids,itisfrequentlydesiredtoincludethesaltsinthemeasurement.Therefore,aprocedureisalsoincludedforthedeterminationofsodiumnaphthenatesalts.Thetypicalrangeforacidnumberdeterminationis0.002to5mgKOH/gofsample,althoughhigherconcentrationscanbeaccommodated.Therearethreeproceduresincludedinthemethod.Theacidnumberofasamplecanbedeterminedonanas-receivedbasisoronamercaptan-andthiophenol-freebasis.Themethodcanalsobeusedtodeterminenaphthenicacidsincludingsodiumnaphthenates(soaps)incaustic-washedhydrocarbons.Foranestimatedrelativemolecularmassof130,therangeofquantitationfornaphthenicacidsis5to500mass-ppm.Thelattertwoproceduresapplyalmostexclusivelytolightkerosinesandgasoilswhereitisassumedthattheorganicacidsareentirelynaphthenic.Ifnopotentiometrictitratorisavailable,andthesampleislightincolor,thetitrationmaybeperformedcolorimetrically;seetheAPPENDIX.
